The Town of Sobrance
The center of the region near the state border with Ukraine is the district town Sobrance. It is limited in the north by the mountain range Vihorlat and in the south penetrates this region into the East Slovakian Plain.
The first written reference dates 1344. The outbrust of activities registered Sobrance after World War 2nd. In the following period has become the community center for administration, commercial, education and cultural activities for 47 villages of this region.
Sobrance has more than 6,000 inhabitants and very good organized network of school and medical care. Local culture is ensured by the municipal culture center with its extraordinary and unique Guitar museum. Close surrounding of Sobrance is offering a lot of tourism destinations and wine producing locations, too.
